Whangarei’s Mary Evans scored an impressive 95 percent for Quickstep, 94 percent for Waltz and 94 percent for Foxtrot in her 3 dance Advanced Bronze Ballroom test during Ballroom and Latin American medal tests conducted in December for InStep Dance Studio pupils by Federal Association of Dance Teachers Examiner Maurice Taylor, of Auckland.

Equal highest mark went to Ruakaka teenager Sarah Buckland with 95 percent for Quickstep, 94 percent for Waltz in her Elementary Silver Ballroom test.

Whangarei teenager Avalon Andrews scored an impressive 96 percent for Waltz in her 3 dance Advanced Bronze Ballroom test judged by Federal Association of Dance Teachers Examiner Maurice Taylor, of Auckland. In her other two dances she gained 95 for Foxtrot and 94 for Quickstep.

Equal highest mark went to Lillian Fielding with 96 for Jive and 95 for Cha Cha in her Elementary Bronze Latin American test.

The second highest mark of 95 was also shared by four other dancers. Mary Evans in her Elementary Bronze Latin American test (Cha Cha 95, Jive 95),  Mike Jones in his Elementary Silver Ballroom test (Quickstep 95, Waltz 94), Paul Hauraki  in his Elementary Bronze Ballroom test (Waltz 95, Foxtrot 92), and Diane McKearney in her Advanced Bronze New Vogue test.

A total of  59 Tests were danced in Elementary and Advanced Bronze, Silver, Silver Bar and Gold levels. As well as the 42 honours passes a further 17 tests were awarded a highly commended pass.

Top marks went to Whangarei’s Dianne McKearney who scored an impressive 95 percent for Waltz in her 3 dance Advanced Silver Ballroom test (Quickstep 93, Slow Foxtrot 91). Equal highest mark went to Melissa Jones with a 95, 92, and 90 in her Advanced Bronze Ballroom test.

Second highest marks were shared by three dancers. Jana Lennard in her Silver Bar Ballroom test (Tango 94, Quickstep 94, Slow Foxtrot 93, Waltz 92).  Laura Thomson in her Elementary Gold Ballroom test (Waltz 94, Quickstep 94), Elementary Gold Latin American test (Cha Cha 94, Jive 94) and Advanced Silver New Vogue test (Gypsy Tap 94, Swing Waltz 93, Charmaine 93). Christine Taylor in her Elementary Bronze New Vogue test  (Gypsy Tap 94, Merrilyn 92).

A total of  81 Tests were danced in Elementary and Advanced Bronze, Silver, and Silver Bar levels. As well as the 60 honours passes a further 21 tests were awarded a highly commended pass.

The dancers were judged by Federal Association of Dance Teachers Examiner Maurice Taylor, of Auckland. Mr Taylor is a former world top 10 professional competitor, and Fellow and Examiner of the Federal Association of Teachers of Dancing.

Top marks went to Whangarei’s Lucy Skyrme who scored an impressive 95 percent in both dances in her Elementary Silver Ballroom test.

Second equal highest marks went to Laura Thomson with a 94, 93, and two 90’s in her Advanced Silver Bar Ballroom test and Russell’s Denzel Nair with a 94 and 93 in his Elementary Silver Latin American test.

Federal Association of Dance Teachers Examiner Maurice Taylor, awarded 67 honours passes and 34 highly commended passes to pupils of the InStep Dance Studio who danced their Ballroom and Latin American Medal Tests on Saturday June 20th.

10 students gained 93 percent or better grades.

The top marks went to Whangarei's Laura Thomson who gained 94% for Waltz, 94% for Foxtrot, and 94% for Quickstep in her Advanced Silver Ballroom test.

Second highest marks went to Dargaville's Lee Johnson who scored 93% for Jive, 93% for Rumba, and 92% for Cha Cha Cha in her Advanced Silver Latin American test.

Federal Association of Dance Teachers Examiner Maurice Taylor, awarded 47 honours passes and 24 highly commended passes to pupils of the InStep Dance Studio who danced their Ballroom and Latin American Medal Tests on Saturday December 6th.

The highest marks this time went to 20 year old Dean Skelton from Tangowahine who scored 94 percent for both Rumba & Cha Cha Cha in his Elementary Silver Latin American Test.

Second highest marks went to 11 year old Denzil Nair from Russell who scored 93% for Jive, 92% for Rumba, and 91% for Cha Cha Cha in his Advance Bronze Latin American Test.

The highest marks this time went to Whangarei’s Amanda Corp who scored 96 percent for both dances in her Elementary Silver Ballroom Test.

Other dancers awarded  96% were Simon Phillips for the Waltz and Jennifer Blanchard for the Quickstep in their Advanced Silver 3 dance test, and Jana Lennard for the Rumba in her Advanced Bronze 3 dance test.

Both Simon and partner Jennifer scored 95% in the other two dances in their Advanced Silver 3 dance test.

The highest marks went to 19 year old Dean Skelton from Tangowahine who scored 96% for both dances in the Elementary Bronze Ballroom Exam.

Second highest marks were recorded by Whangarei couple Dave Eskildsen and Diane Couchman who both scored 95% for both dances in their Elementary Silver Ballroom Exam.

Dean’s 17 year old sister Navit was a close 3rd with 94% in Elementary Bronze Ballroom Exam, a mark shared with  brother and sister 12 year old Maraea and 10 year old Trent Tipene from Russell in their Elementary Bronze Latin American Exam.
